A ransomware attack spread across 74 countries on Friday, throughout Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The attack hurt Britain’s healthcare system, forcing some hospitals to turn away patients.
The ransomware, which was delivered via email attachment, is believed to have been stolen NSA technology. In 2016, a group known as the Shadow Brokers leaked the ransomware and other NSA tools.
According to Fox News, the impact of the attacks caused phone lines to go down, appointments to be canceled and patients to be turned away. However, there has been no reported evidence of patient data being breached.
