Celebrating Michigan’s metamorphosis to a digital, science and technology base

Blog Posts

Online Tech is excited to congratulate the winners of the 2014 a DiSciTech award from Corp! magazine. These Michigan companies are “leading the way in digital, science and technology” fields. The 29 companies listed in the technology category alone demonstrates the increasing volume of companies for Corp! to choose from. So as we celebrate our fourth DiSciTech award in five years, we also offer congratulations and wishes of continued growth to our fellow technology award winners:

Equally, we’re excited to be part of the Michigan metamorphosis that the publication celebrated while announcing its honorees:

There’s no question that an economy at least some of us grew up with has dramatically changed in recent years.

Really, no surprise there.

The somewhat surprising component to this story of transformation is just how well an area economy that was once viewed as the heartland of American manufacturing has become one of its most proliferate when it comes to companies whose livelihoods embrace digital, science and technology.

That proliferation of tech-related growth in the state facilitated the recent addition of Online Tech’s Metro Detroit Data Center, which increased our footprint in Michigan to 100,000 square feet of data center space in four locations.

“Metro Detroit is a perfect location for expansion with a healthy enterprise market of Fortune 500 companies and a fast-growing community of startups in the healthcare, financial and retail industries,” co-CEO Mike Klein said. “Our investment of $10 million in infrastructure and 15 new jobs in this Metro Detroit data center will provide the critical IT infrastructure and services that growing Michigan companies need to sustain growth and credibility in the next few years.”
