The HIPAA audit protocol was published in July of this year as the basis for the Office for Civil Rights audit program for healthcare providers, as mandated by the HITECH Act. It is expected that the OCR audit program will move to a fully enforced program in 2013.
David Barton is a Principal and the practice leader of the Technology Assurance and Advisory Services group at UHY Advisors, Inc in Atlanta, GA. He is certified in Risk and Information Systems Controls (CRISC) and received his Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation in 1988. With over 25 years of practical experience in information systems and technology risk and controls, Barton is an expert in identifying and reducing information technology risk throughout an organization.
April Sage has been involved in the IT industry for over two decades, initially founding a technology program in the pre-Windows era. In 2000, April founded a bioinformatics company that supported biotech, pharma, and bioinformatic companies in the development of research portals, drug discovery search engines, and other software systems.
