What We’re Looking For

Our ideal Network Engineer will fully engage by contributing great ideas and maintaining the highest standards of accountability and client focus to help us build one of the nation’s largest success stories. This is a full-time exempt (salaried) position working at our one of our data center locations in Flint, Ann Arbor, Westland, or Indianapolis, reporting to our Manager of Deployments, and working the Monday – Friday 8 AM to 5 PM shift. We are also seeking strong candidates who would prefer to work remotely.

Position Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and solve a wide range of complex network issues both internal, and client facing
  • The role will serve as an escalation path, offering support and guidance to both internal and external clients
  • Performing scheduled deployment tasks on the network both internally and externally
  • Participate in an on-call rotation that will vary in frequency and duration based on the size of the Deployments team and workload, such as as-scheduled migrations, cutovers, and client deployments.
  • Aid with training new hire staff members on Networking Technologies
  • Interface directly with customers and third-party vendors to resolve their network issues and design challenges
  • Diagram and document “As-built” networking topologies, both client and Otava internal
  • Meet daily to discuss challenges or accomplishments
  • Work in an environment with strict Change Control processes
  • Collaborate with a world-wide team of administrators and engineers
  • Develop and implement new network design technologies for our clients
  • Develop and deploy automation of repetitive network tasks
  • Manage oneself according to Otava’s standard processes and procedures (“the Otava Way”)
  • Perform other duties as assigned to help the Otava team achieve its objectives

Required Skills and Background

  • Passion for delivering superior client service and attaining the highest levels of client satisfaction
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant technical certifications preferred
  • Expert troubleshooting abilities and experience.
  • 6+ years of experience with enterprise network environments
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call work for emergencies
  • Advanced understanding of network technologies including: BGP, OSPF, STP, and layer 2/3 switching
  • Experience designing and implementing networking systems in an enterprise environment
  • Deep understanding of virtual networking infrastructure and technologies, including VMware (NSX is a plus) and Azure
  • Strong ability to create “As-Built” diagrams and documentation
  • Deep understanding of network security technologies including ACLs, VPNs, and IPS/IDS
  • Working experience with Cisco and Cumulus routers and switches, as well as  Fortinet/ Clavister security products preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills
