As a Cloud Support Engineer at Otava, your primary role is to act as a resource to support company technical initiatives as well as a mentor to junior staff. Otava, being a global cloud company, has a diverse product offering and leverages technologies from dozens of vendors. You must be able to understand and manage these technologies to be a successful candidate.

Duties include managing client tickets through to their successful resolution, monitoring network events, performing daily walk-through processes, and working on other client projects as needed.

What we need:

  • Knowledge of Windows, SQL Server, Fileserver and networking
  • Knowledge of VMware, Veeam Hyper-V
  • VMware vSphere virtualization with related storage and networking technology (vSAN, virtual networking)
  • Networking – good knowledge of TCP/IP and data protocols
  • Experience with DNS, DHCP, QOS, NAT, VoIP, IP Routing, Switching, VPN, Windows Server – general knowledge of the OS, good understanding of Active Directory
  • Understanding of basic system administration tools and procedures
  • Broad understanding of public, private and hybrid cloud environments
  • Troubleshoot and solve a wide range of customer support issues from basic to complex, including but not limited to backups, patching, imaging, permissions, and working with Windows and Linux servers
  • Operating system and application installation/configuration
  • Minimum 2 yrs. experience in a high tech or IT related field (required)/Service industry experience
  • Basic working knowledge of Windows Server 2008/2012/2016 and understanding of VMware
  • Broad understanding of public, private and hybrid cloud environments

What we want:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS, Citrix, IIS
  • One or more relevant industry recognized certifications such as CCNET, Comp TIA A+, MTA, ITIL
  • Hands-on experience with cloud computing (IaaS or PaaS) platforms
  • Cisco, Comptia+, Microsoft, Nutanix, VMware, or any other industry professional certifications
  • Familiarity with ticketing platforms
  • Ability to efficiently work on individual allocated tasks or within a team
  • Must possess a strong drive to solve difficult problems with scalable, elegant, and maintainable solutions
  • Customer centric focus on all interactions, within technical support to all clients
  • Ability to take responsibility for meeting commitments; desire to succeed and has a history of meeting solutions by deadline
  • Provide professional and friendly support consistently via telephone and electronic help desk system
  • Participate in a daily queue watching rotation to make sure that no request goes unnoticed
  • Natural curiosity to learn new things and eager to acquire knowledge
  • Keeps current with industry standard practices and procedures
  • High proficiency in English verbal and written communication
